That doesn't change the fact that you did it.

Re: Remove Adult Content?
You know, the fact that a game exists where you play the role of the rapist in that scenario doesn't exactly bug me. I'm just curious about how it was executed. There's a point where that sort of game can be a legitimately "good" (if disturbing) game, and there's a point where it jumps the shark into the territory of just being wrong--as in, by no stretch of the imagination would any decent human being be entertained by it.
The thing is, a lot of people are interested in media that portrays the "other side," the evil or criminal element, and this is nothing even remotely new. Games like Grand Theft Auto, shows like Dexter, and so on and so forth. Conceptually, the only real difference between those things and what we're talking about is the exact nature of the crime, which for one reason or another strikes a different chord in our minds and is thus categorized as more "taboo." I would dare to say that at least part of that is entirely in our minds. Whether it's something that can or even should change is another matter; perhaps that's one aspect of our societal perceptions that's best left as it is.
These things can either be portrayed realistically or they can be over-glorified. It's not as if media never gets away with over-glorifying the "other side" in other matters, either.
I have no real knowledge of the game in question, so where it stands is something I can't say. All I know is that I'm not concerned that such a game exists; only about the specific execution of the idea. Those of you who know the exact content, I ask: Would you say the game was deliberately trying to be "sick," or that it was trying to do something worthwhile with the concept? Never mind whether it actually did. What was it trying to do?

Re: Remove Adult Content?
I watched a review of it (after someone wanted me to play it) and apparently you're a rapist who got arrested. The gameplay consists of you taking revenge on the one who told the cops, and her family; 11 year old sister, mother and of course the girl herself, whom I think is in high school.Heartless Wanderer wrote:Well, in that case, that's just wrong.Xanatos wrote:Be a porn game.Heartless Wanderer wrote:What was it trying to do?
I didn't actually get to see the actual rape, but I did some research and what I found was not to my liking.

No moreso than other porn but then, my philosophy is essentially "If it's fantasy, anything goes."Heartless Wanderer wrote:Well, in that case, that's just wrong.Xanatos wrote:Be a porn game.Heartless Wanderer wrote:What was it trying to do?
Oddly, it does have a more realistic take on the whole thing. Usually when that stuff's in porn, it's under the "it starts unwilling then she likes it" mindset. This game is full of tears and screaming. And potential death. Cultural note: Japan does seem to have this odd issue with surprise train molesting so it could potentially deter that by being fairly gruesomely realistic. Still doubt any higher concepts here considering it's an Illusion game though.

Well i wouldnt say so myself. Porn games in my opinion can be about anything. Even rape.Heartless Wanderer wrote:Well, in that case, that's just wrong.Xanatos wrote:Be a porn game.Heartless Wanderer wrote:What was it trying to do?
Its just up to us how much we act on them in real life. Everyone has somekind of a fetish or a fantasy that sometimes cross the norms of what society thinks about sex.
Everyone is free to imagine those things.

I agree with you on that, but only to some extent.Xanatos wrote:No moreso than other porn but then, my philosophy is essentially "If it's fantasy, anything goes."
I can play games like Mafia and the Godfather, and kill millions without giving a shit, but when it comes to things like RL I just can't take it.

Oh, yeah, there's still personal preference. Just not gonna go and claim it's "wrong" when it's just a video game. Hell, I turn The Sims into Hostel on a regular basis.OtakuNinja wrote:I agree with you on that, but only to some extent.Xanatos wrote:No moreso than other porn but then, my philosophy is essentially "If it's fantasy, anything goes."

1) Throw a party for all the neighbors.
2) Next-door neighbor steals stereo.
3) Invite his family for a party later.
4) Start a fire in the kitchen while his kid's there.
5) Remove the doors.
...Overreaction? Pft.
