This is just a misunderstanding. What we have said is that it's unlikely every single one of us will come back to make another VN together, but that it's possible smaller groups of people within the team will continue to make projects together (we have already made 2 other VNs with smaller groups of people - pXt and The Answer - and used the 4ls name for both).

Valjean Lafitte wrote:Thanks for the quick response! I figured you had smoked once or twice or were at least a casual smoker, since in the scene Hisao talks about how unhealthy it is, yet your description of what those first four or five cigarettes are like is very true to life. I didn't mean to ask whether or not you had a similar experience of blowing smoke up at the ceiling with a girlfriend or anything.

Speaking of writing, are you writing anything at the moment that you'd be willing to talk about? It seems you answer a lot of questions about 4LS on the Aura Mart blog, but never say much about what you're up to. Just wondering if you have anything like cpl_crud's "Generic Writing Archive" where people can other read other stuff written by you. Or maybe you haven't written much since KS, in which case...er, ignore this question. Thanks!
I just keep most of my writing to myself.

Here's my most recent reply to the oft-seen question about regretting or disliking KS:

Of course all of us have different perspectives on KS, but I've not ever seen anyone say they regret or resent working on it.

I've read almost every page of this thread and it seems as though the questions "did 4LS break up" and "do you regret Katawa Shoujo" get asked more than any others, even more than sequel or copyright questions. It's weird.

Anyway, the following is a very trivial question that there was probably never an answer to, but here goes: Where was the Hakamichi residence meant to be? Is it in the nearby unnamed city, or somewhere else?

Question for Aura and/or TheHivemind:

In Act 1 there is scene in which Hisao asks Emi what she and Rin do together when they hang out; Emi says that in addition to shopping at the art store with Rin, she often takes Rin to a music store where they sell "all kinds of weird stuff" that Rin listens to to get inspiration for her artwork. So I guess my question is twofold: A), what types of music would Rin listen to for inspiration and B), how weird is weird as far as Emi is concerned?

a) I have no idea. Maybe stuff like Ne nehledej, or maybe she just puts on late-era Tom Waits.

b) Pretty weird. Emi's the sort to give most things a try at least once or twice. That Ne nehledej stuff might be too much for her, though.

If it's okay to ask, what do you guys do for a living? I'm just curious, and I'm also going for that "I-dunno-what-to-do-with-my-life" phase. So yeah, that. I know most of you only took the making of KS as a side project and no one wants to get into the gaming industry as something serious, no?

I'm a neurosurgery OR nurse. I never made any secret of my job, but if you expect all the others to care to or want to respond, you will be disappointed.
Shattering your dreams since '94. I also fought COVID in '20 and '21, and all I got was this lousy forum sig.

On those same lines but less open-endedly: do any of the devs do vocationally what they did on the game? Not just the writers, but everyone.

I have a sneaking suspicion people like weee and Mike Inel are actual pros by now if not back then…
NB: none of the above is a request

Have any of you got the link to Weee's profile on DeviantArt? Saw you guys mention the name hence was intrested if his/her stuff was just as good. Tried looking it up via the search-function on DA but got only pieces titled "weee" and pasting it in the address bar gave me the profile of a British women who has no art or favourites on display.

Thanks in advance for the aid.

Off the top of my head I can count at least six 4LS members who either study or have a job with something related to what they did in project KS.

I actually do make my money writing, but it's writing marketing materials for a technology firm and not, you know, writing fiction.

I work in IT, first helpdesk then in a network operations centre.

The closest I get to my KS work is writing technical documentation.

I've seen a lot of tech marketing that is indeed fiction :P
You could make a pretty strong argument that I still write fiction, yes. Just far less interesting fiction.
