Dear Aura,
I didn't know where else to go to ask this so I'm sorry if this isn't the place to place but I have been a fan of “Katawa Shoujo” for a few years now. I’m some-what of a hobbyist where I tend to do a lot of things on my spare time, most recently I took up game making with the RPG Maker software (I'm no expert). I’m not studying game development, I don’t have a desire to pursue a career in game development, I just do it for fun with no profit earning involved. I’m actually currently working on a survival horror RPG game that I’m almost finished with and I have been thinking about what game to do next.
The thought of doing a Katawa Shoujo fan game came to mind, now I know you have strict rules when it comes to people using the name and characters but I would like you to hear me out. I haven’t worked on any script yet because I’m still working on my horror game but I can tell you the general basis of the game. The game would feature an entirely different cast, none of the iconic characters are playable or will have paths, it will be a short game with about 3 – 4 paths to take. It’s just if I could get your consent all I ask is that you allow me to have the game take place in the same school/universe and that some characters make in game cameos (like walking through the halls etc.).
This would be a non-profit game, no money is to be earned by it, and the in game cut scenes will not be using your art. I know how strict you are with the music of the game so I won’t use the music even though I would like to. I just hope that you would give me the “OK” to make the game whenever I get around to it, I’m even willing to email you guys the script whenever it’s done as some kind of reassurance. I don’t have an official name for this future game but I was thinking “Katawa Shoujo: Four Leaves” to represent the playable paths or main characters and as a way to pay respect to you guys “Four Leaf Studio.” I thought it would be wise to ask you guys for permission and if you allow me to I would put in a disclaimer stating that you own everything “Katawa Shoujo,” I just want to do this for fun. I don’t have a fan following or anything so my only motivation is to create something new and different.
I hope to hear from you soon and I will respect any decision you make, thank you for hearing me out.

This one's kind of a weaksauce, pedantic question, but where do students at Yamaku like Hisao refill their prescriptions?

Is there a pharmacy counter in the admin building? Do they just go to Nurse when they need more? Does it come in the mail? Do students get a fridge in their rooms if their medication needs to be refrigerated?

Yamaku is stated to be just a few minutes away from a hospital, which presumably comes with a pharmacy, whether integral to the complex or independently operated.

That determined, the logistics can be taken care of in many different ways. Most medicinals can be dispensed through the Nurse's office for general convenience, and a ledger can be kept to make accurate bulk orders in addition to keeping a general over-the-counter supply.

Medication requiring cold storage generally still has a short shelf life left over after being stowed at ambient temperature, so it's perfectly possible to keep a small supply at hand and go reload every three or five days. A medical +2-+8 fridge can be plugged in just as easily as a standard fridge and doesn't require any special skill to maintain, should the Nurse and his staff have one in Yamaku's lineup.

As long as you follow the derivative work guidelines, it's fine. In short, do not use any material directly from KS. That is art, script, music etc.

To the Hivemind.

You mentioned in an interview that you were sort of forced to write a anal H-scene, do to most of the scenes being vanilla. And while it was a fun read I wonder: why did you not try and write some other type of H-scene, like oral, if you weren't quite comfortable with the whole anal thing?

Sometimes it is good to write about things that make you uncomfortable. Once I started viewing it as a challenge, I started to think of a way to make it my own, and the result is what wound up in the game. I thought it was fucking hilarious at the time--I've cooled on it now, but I also read through it a lot.

I believe you said that you were also pressured into trying to make it serious, but were able to "veto" that pretty fast. How would the scene have fit into the overall story/tone progression if the alternate version had come to light? Something tells me that slapping a serious anal scene over the lemony scene we actually got and calling it a day wouldn't have fit right as the timeline is now.

Is there any way for me to find the longest and shortest scenes?

No, and there's no easy way for me to find out either (and I'm too lazy to do the hard way). The shortest is probably some "bridging" scene in act 1, longest I couldn't say.

I never even wrote a more serious version of the scene, and have no idea where it would have gone if I had. The sex bits in Emi's path were always kind of silly to begin with, because I imagined Emi as the sort of person who finds sex to be a great way to have fun with another person. I doubt she'd take it "seriously" in any context.

i was wondering if doing a topic on KS merchandise IDEAS and concepts (without actually making any or promoting anything) is allowed or not due to copyright

why? because i'm curious what other KS fans would've liked to have with them from the KS world :) like ideas for clothing (besides just being a beige t-shirt with the heart logo), utility items, stuff like that. only ideas and nothing more is what i want to be in this topic. do i get permission for this Aura or any moderator? :3 i understand if not ^.^

Of course talking about ideas and hypotheticals is fine. See for example any of the threads concerning a speculative sequel to KS.

She's not.

Also here's a reminder of the third rule of this thread.
3) Even if you think you know the answer to some question, don't answer it. Misinformation has a tendency to stick around, and the point of this thread is to clarify things, not muddle them up further. I will enforce this one pretty heavily until everyone gets the point. The exception is pointing out that the same question has been answered before (with a link)
You mean well, but please, don't.
