It has been over two years, apparently, since the last time I updated this story, which was on February 21, 2014 - the later updates were... not really updates. In the time since, I have poked at the story numerous times, attempting to pick it up where it left off, but even having written 3 chapters ...

There're several line breaks missing toward the end of the second half, as well. The bit just before the Samurai reappears as Shino is constructing the salt circle.

Gentlemen, I hate even suggesting that I might finish this, but I would like to. That said, nobody should get their hopes up... least of all me.

It's because KS isn't about the place as much as it is the people. You could transplant the story to somewhere in Europe, America, Australia, or otherwise, change some of the local references (Euros instead of Yen, 4th of July instead of Tanabata, etc.), and it would still work on a fundamental ...
