Not -too- screwed - I got it to work with a little tinkering on my 64-bit Ubuntu. It was a pain though, and long enough ago that I can't give accurate instructions, sorry :/

It's possible. Install KS to the external drive, then create a folder with this exact name in its directory: Ren'Py Data That then saves everything there instead of the user's application data/library/home. Attached is a screenshot of what the file structure should look like, in case there's any ...
