Re: Hanako's Broken Heart Club
Apparently, my last post on KSOF was in March... Just to reiterate, I'm mostly a lurker rather than an active participant, but I do keep tabs on HBHC ;)

Re: Hanako's Broken Heart Club
I take it the HBHC link in OP Edit 4 no longer exists?
The reason for that is two-fold. One is that the domain supplier .co.cc no longer functions (which was a hassle as it happened suddenly...) and then I moved it to a different URL (subdomain of one of my owned domains, now just a subdirectory ...

People should consider if there is an intent to insult before they take offense from such things - and in the case of the word "mute" I can't imagine a situation where it would be used with such intent - especially if the alternative is a word few people have even heard.

I'm still in touch with ProfAllister and occasionally talk about FWoaN. It's not dead, it is simply that progress comes quite slow since there is not a lot of time for her to work on it. You can call it hibernation at best

Re: Sign Language Talk!
I think it would be outrageously difficult to find a JSL teacher in the UK. Heck, I could only find one ASL class and it had been discontinued due to lack of interest!

Yup, I know for a fact that it is still a work in progress, simply moving along slowly indeed because of job, life and such but definitely not forgotten about.

Re: Sign Language Talk!
This thread makes me want to play Rogue Legacy again. Sorry, being off topic...
Anyway, can't say I "know" sign language, but last year I went to a few free lessons by a girl who studied it a couple years ("it" being LIS or Italian Sign Language, as I live there). I was inspired by KS of course ...

Congrats man...
As for myself? FML. I know, first world problems but still not fun:

Re: Do blind people actually touch people's faces?
On a different note, I find the difference between how Hisao treats Lilly's blindness and Shizune's deafness quite annoying. It almost gives off the impression that blindness is worse than deafness. Dealing with deafness isn't just learning sign language and boom all problems solved. But it almost ...

On the other hand, you're defining your identity as being based on an inability to do something. If you were able to perfectly remove that inability, would you reject it because you prefer having the identity over having the ability?
If I would not view it as necessary to my goals, yes. I'd think ...

Re: Shizune Arc (misha, jigoro)
Having better access to computers would solve a lot of communication problems.
You'd think that, but Shizune doesn't seem to like writting to reply to people and doesn't even check the messages she does get on her phone very often.

Just like the Jihad portion of the Muslims... You know, those that strap bombs to themselves and blow innocent people up? Often for simply not being Muslim?

The North American Deaf community reviles people for getting cochlear implants to regain their hearing, too, branding them traitors.
