Re: Hanako's Broken Heart Club
Tell me about it. Furthering the existence of the human race? Bad idea. 100% agreed, the human race as a whole is fucked, we just gotta do what we can to stay sane ^^. @Kutagh - Good points, I could try and in most situations be way better that my own parents but the chance of a situation I dont kn...

Re: Hanako's Broken Heart Club
I think that I can safely say that almost all parents don't know how to be parents. Everyone has their own interpretations of being parents and in the end we can only hope for them to try their best. As for my parents, I count myself lucky. They're not strict and do listen to me. They do not assume ...

Now here I am in Paris for half a day (it's midnight again) and you guys spammed frigging 5 pages full  Everyone else here went to sleep... Man this was a looooong day for me. Woke up at 5.30-ish, got in the car at 6,...

Re: We never see Shizune use sign language
Finger dexterity might be an issue for babies and toddlers, but my younger cousins were taking classes for basic ASL pre-kindergarten. Video phones and CIs aren't exactly the same thing, I brought it up because there might be some practice or social custom that Jigoro would use to reject something ...

Re: Hanako's Broken Heart Club
First time actually asking for advise from this thread since I first got on here but I definitely am in a tight spot I can't necessarily tell anyone IRL about till I know for sure what I'm going to do about this predicament I'm in. This is my second year out of my family's grasp and been hundreds o...

Re: We never see Shizune use sign language
One of the essays from the first one's bibliography goes into how Japanese culture would affect the use of video phones: Harumi’s reaction was shock at the idea that interpreters she did not know would be able to see into her house. She explained that in Japan the distinction between private space ...

Re: We never see Shizune use sign language
Ultimately, though, I don't think it's even the whole "speech vs. sign language" thing at all. Shizune's problem is more the fact that her deafness robs her of what would otherwise be a natural and integral part of inter-personal relationships for most normal human beings. Even if she did...

Re: Hanako's Broken Heart Club
Hot dogs are pretty easy to make bro, that's how I got through high school! I also had to learn to cook by myself out of necesity as my grandmother's health started to wane. With making food edible or safe to eat is enough for me. Hehehe, I know the feeling (though for me it is not out of nec...

Re: We never see Shizune use sign language
@DrNonookee: Luckily I'm one of those deaf-from-early-age people that can speak (and hear) reasonably well thanks to my Cochlear Implant and hearing aid. But that goes exclusively for Dutch in not too noisy environments. As you probably have noticed, my written English skills is not that bad... But ...

Re: We never see Shizune use sign language
all conversations are in written English... That's out of necessity for the reader being able to play the game without needing to learn Japanese first. In the fiction of the story Shizune uses JSL, but I suppose it would stand to reason that you'd need to localize her signs into whatever written la...

Re: We never see Shizune use sign language
It's a multitude of reasons, I think. First is obviously the animation, as Sign Language isn't easy to properly animate. Secondly is that it doesn't add a huge lot since the majority of the readers won't be able to read Sign Language. Thirdly, which Sign Language should Shizune use? It is in a Japan...

Re: Hanako's Broken Heart Club
I don't know what to do, I feel so guilty. You've had a hard few days, mate. I hope things get at least a little better soon. If you blew up at them in a shop you probably owe them an apology, at least for that. They might have been wrong to try to pin you down, but it sounds like you were more wro...

gragon: I dont think its too bad that you lied your age, but I think it's really cool to tell the truth. And well.. Im 16 myself, so I don't think this is a bad place for us teenagers. We might be younger than most people here, but we still have problems to share and no matter how small your proble...
