Re: Yamaku Book Club (20180514 'Scar-Crossed Lovers')
I'd like to get some more interaction here. Before I post the next story, what kind of story do you WANT to talk about? Short or long? OC based or main character based? A Good story or a bad one? Finished or unfinished? Standard slice or life? Romance? Humor? Good stories first and foremost. If I'm ...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (20180319 'The Escape')
That was an interesting way of doing dialogue. It probably wouldn't work for a longer piece but for a short thing like this it fit rather well.
As for the story it was a nice glimpse into her mind. I like it.

Re: Yamaku Book Club (20180128 'Constant Companion' by darrin)
I enjoyed this one. It did a very good job of conveying just what happened without straying from Misha's voice, even (especially) when she was narrating for someone else. I've also got something of a soft spot for stories which are entirely speaking, especially when they're just one person speaking ...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (All Hallow's Eve Edition)
"You do this" is second person, yeah. It's mostly used for quests and other roleplaying shenanigans.

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Meeting Resumes — [Shizune])
I don't jump on the mother being dead bandwagon. it's possible, but at the same time there's no real evidence pointing towards it either. Shizune doesn't talk about her family at all. You find out nothing about them until you meet them, and when you do, they tend to remain rather tight lipped about ...

Look at it as an opportunity to reread.

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Meeting Update: Aug/Sep—Hanako)
As promised, my thoughts on Developments' Hanako. Probably not going to be as lengthy a post, but that's because I find it easier to write at length about the nearly perfect instead of the all-the-way-there. Apologies if it's a bit scattershot. The thing I like the most about Developments!Hanako ...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Meeting Update: Aug/Sep—Hanako)
Ahh, Sisterhood. If I were to sum up my feelings toward it and the expanded version, I would have to echo Yahtzee's review of Portal 2: if the first one is three cherries, then the second is five cherries and some sawdust. The original is basically perfect. All the characters were on point, it was ...

Re: Developments (Post-Lilly Neutral End) - Ch.60 posted 8/3
Hopefully it was worth the wait for you! Indubidably. I have to say, I really like this chapter. Both in and of itself, and in the context of the whole, this works really well. An ongoing theme of the story has been that life moves on and you can't stay in place regardless of how you might want to ...

Re: Developments (Post-Lilly Neutral End) - Ch.59 posted 6/1
After that, there will be one more piece to Developments before this particular story comes to its conclusion. As much as a part of me always cries out "more, more!" a solid conclusion to an enjoyable tale is always a joy to see. There's no question in my mind that this will be that, so I shall ...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Meeting Resumed: July—Iwanako)
You can see a movie or something. Ooh, if you haven't yet then I recommend Inside Out. It's very good. /offtopic I remember liking these chapters the first time through and on the reread the feeling persists. One thing in particular that I like is how out of her depth and caught off guard her ...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Iwanako Rising)
I believe I can make a rebuttal to your argument that Hisao's past does not largely inform his present due to the circumstances of his life at the time of the game. Instead, I assert that his past not only informs his present, but outright moulds it into what it is in canon wholesale. Specifically ...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Meeting In Progress 25 May 2015)
Seconded. Hisao is like a canvas painted in faint colours; it's interesting to see what can be gleaned when he isn't obscured by the vibrant shades of The Girl.

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Meeting 14/15 May 2015 in progress)
For what it's worth I think it's valuable for us to occasionally review long and popular fics like the Akira and Suzu routes as well as short and less good fics. The former so that we can introduce them to people who haven't read them as well as pointing out things that worked well and fell flat ...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Meeting 14/15 May 2015 onwards)
I've got to echo the others here; the singing scene was something special. The rest of the fic I don't care for, but the singing scene is good.
