Re: A Memory Hisao has of Lilly

Ok... I've had this on my mind for a while... I just didn't know when a good time to release it would be. Or how to. I buried it for so long... I doubt anyone still visits here, much less reads this or expects it. But, here goes. PREFACE Many people wondered how a man can write his own memories ...

Re: A Memory Hisao has of Lilly

This is the weirdest discussion I've ever had on the internet, and that's saying something... I give up. Oh, really? That's nothing. You should see them on the Catholic Answers forums. It's astonishing how many pages a conversation even about a simple proof of God can fill and how many twists ...

Re: A Memory Hisao has of Lilly

Exactly the same, but if not even highlighting the passages from my original post can make you see that, I'm not sure what else I can do... Then you fail to understand that there are no older copies than the one dating to 900 AD. According to Jeffery Henderson's "Civil Wars" (which is the only book ...

Re: A Memory Hisao has of Lilly

Um, I thought that was your entire point. If the Gospels are true, Jesus did exist. If they aren't, He didn't, and Christianity is false. :| What did you intend with what you were saying? It seemed you were indicating the Bible is not a reliable historical document. While I might agree with your ...

Re: A Memory Hisao has of Lilly

enough for you? Um, how did this turn into a discussion of whether or not Jesus existed? That wasn't the point anyone was trying to make until your post here. Um, I thought that was your entire point. If the Gospels are true, Jesus did exist. If they aren't, He didn't, and Christianity is false ...

Re: A Memory Hisao has of Lilly

I am not sure if you are talking about original documents or copies here... For copies this is definitely wrong. I have read texts from that time myself during latin classes in school, including "De Bello Gallico" from Caesar himself. The earliest extant copies of Caesar's writings are from 900 AD ...

Re: A Memory Hisao has of Lilly

I'm not surprised because there would be no point to it. Copies of a single source still count as a single source. OK, first of all, the Bible's not one big book. It's a collection of smaller books, letters, and other writings. There are the four Gospels - Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John - the Acts of ...

Re: A Memory Hisao has of Lilly

Many manly tears were shed, but these weren't tears of sadness, they were tears of joy. Aw... I'm glad I didn't make you sad. :) BTW, Is this the last chapter or will be there more, maybe something like "Hisao dies shortly after Lilly's death and they are reunited in afterlife"? Very, very close. I ...

Re: A Memory Hisao has of Lilly

But yeah, I guess a testimony 50 years later might be considered dubious. Of course, that would put all of history into question (considering most histories were written long after the events under discussion had happened). Nooooo, histories use written material from the time of it happening. For ...

Re: A Memory Hisao has of Lilly

How insulting! Just because he's Irish doesn't mean he's an unreliable source of information! But yeah, I guess a testimony 50 years later might be considered dubious. Re: A Memory Hisao has of Lilly

PS: I might note that I loosely based this story on an actual miraculous healing account. If anyone recognises the name "Pietrelcina" or "Padre Pio", they may also know the name of "Gemma di Giorgio", who was born with no pupils. When Fr. Pio healed Gemma of her eyesight, she not only could see, but ...

Re: A Memory Hisao has of Lilly

A lot has happened between age 18 and age 90, however. I may fill in the details in between at some point. But keep in mind 70 years have passed between the Hisao and Lilly of the last chapters and this. Someday I will fill in the details. -------------------------------------- ... Lilly and ...

Re: A Memory Hisao has of Lilly

PPS: Keep in mind I'm writing this as if it were sections out of a novel, not individual standalone articles. You must assume that previously Hisao had already explained something that has been mentioned - in a chronologically "previous" excerpt - but not elucidated. None of these passages are yet ...

Re: A Memory Hisao has of Lilly

Such as? (I'm curious what you consider a "parody of what believers actually believe".) Well, when I try to imagine God as father figure, I tend to think of fathers as something you grow up to be yourself. But God's supposedly omniscient etc. You'll never be that. Clearly, believers then like being ...

Re: A Memory Hisao has of Lilly

Your explanations do help me understand better where you come from, but they don't actually get me any closer to what it is you're ultimately talking about. It's not your fault; and it's not just you. I live among Roman Catholics, and nobody so far has been able to explain what "God" means. I can ...
