Re: Real Life KS-type Relationships

I hate my smile. Some people say it is nice, but it is this conniving, half smirk like I had just slipped poison into someone's wine glass. I may share a lot with Hanako, but not her cute smile. Growing up, they tried to force me to smile and I never could. I try to smile in the mirror but it looks...

Re: The future of VN's

Well, I think it will be more like thousands of years before all this new technology that emerged in the last 100 years, and the new technologies that will follow get settled. And technology will go forward but also backwards at times. I mean, 2000 years ago the Romans had roads, sewers, running wat...

Re: Hanako's Broken Heart Club

Ax Maverick, thank you for your story. Personally, I have also felt anger before at how I was treated, and sometimes I did become violent. Not often, but still... I can't say I understand, but for some people aggression and fighting are a way to deal with their pain. A bad way, but it's what keeps t...

Re: Real Life KS-type Relationships

Nekken: You're hitting the nail squarely on the head, when you say we have to accept not understanding the other's pain. But actually it's more general: in reality no one can /truly/ understand what it feels like to be someone else, or what they are suffering, since it's impossible to look inside an...

Re: The future of VN's

All this is nothing compared to the future development that will be almost inevitatble: the android. Look at http://www.projectaiko.com/ for a primitive example. Of course, the future android will be much more complex, built from a mixture of silicon technologies, nanotechnology and and biotechnolog...

Re: Real Life KS-type Relationships

Hmm, I think that , much like in the game the disability itself is usually only an indirect cause. It's the psychological and social problems that are hardest to deal with. And those can be there even if there are no disabilities at all. Loving someone actually isn't that hard, but keeping the relat...

Re: Hanako's Broken Heart Club

Rivan, thanks for your story. Of course, there's always someone who is worse off, but like Buddha said, "You can't pull others out of a swamp if you're not solidly grounded yourself". So, it's OK for us to work on our own problems first until they have become manageable enough before we tr...

Re: 32 Lessons I Learned & Remembered, Thanks to Katawa Shou

Interesting, although what I learned was often somewhat different. I'm ure there are 100 different lessons or more in there too, not just the 32 mentioned. But it' also somewhat subjective, as everyone will take something different with them from such a complex game. Nice blog post anyway!

Fretless, thanks for your story. I guess it's hard what happened because they are or were your friends, but now everything's "in the clear" in a way. I hope it gets better from now on.

Re: Hanako's Broken Heart Club

In my experience, liking and loving should be confessed as soon as you feel it clearly, and when you are rejected, you should stop thinking about that person, let them go and move on. Yes its hard, but the suffering or pining for someone who is out of reach is much more terrible. Sins of my sins: I ...

Alexbond45, Well, it sounds like you're doing better than I imagined. as long as you're honest too yourself, and don't overdo it, it's good to keep that positive attitude. Luketacz, I think it's sad to hear that it ended like that for you and for her. First of all, I hope that you have told or will ...

Libra, I know it may sound cheap, but I hope medical science will have advanced enough in 20 years to cure you when your disease strikes again. Life waits for no one, death is on our heels, but for most of us we can ignore it because it is still "far away". You sound determined to not wast...

Mahogany, thanks for your story. You sound like you're OK now, so that's a good thing, I think. Coldhole94, Nobody chooses the body with which they are born. It's plain unfair to judge a person for something that is beyond their control. If people are bullying you remember this: they're just trying ...

Heh, maybe I should become friends with someone from this forum or thread then. :) If they live in Europe somewhere close, I guess. :P
