Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: A bowl of noodles . . .)

I have to be contrary and say that this was probably the highlight of the Saki compilation for me. In the VN, Mutou has little to no depth. We see nothing of his personal life, or of his motivation. For the most part, all we see is that he is tired all the time, somewhat awkward, passionate about hi...

Re: Miki's First Time

Needless commentary here, but I have the impression that if Miki is that opposed to having her stump touched by someone she wants to get intimate with, then she probably shouldn't be trying to go that far to begin with. If that makes any sense.

Re: Developments (Post-Lilly Neutral End) - Chapter 37 up 3/

I'm sure that Hanako (and maybe Lilly) is/are aware of Noriko's reputation (assuming she has one), but I at least hope that they don't jump to the conclusion that Hisao is screwing her.

Re: Miki's First Time

Y'know, after reading the title, I was expecting something totally different. Like Miki being a crazy, manipulative nympho.

I liked it, though.

Re: Developments (Post-Lilly Neutral End) - Chapter 37 up 3/

Well, that was certainly unexpected. I actually like how Noriko turned out there. I had kind of assumed that she'd be some malevolent monkey wrench in the grand scheme of things (for all I know she might turn out to be one anyway), but she was surprisingly and refreshingly straightforward here. Funn...

Re: Yamaku Book Club

It had been a while since I last read this fic, but I couldn't quite find the time to redo so. At any rate, much like the original "Endless Eight" arc from the Haruhi light novels, the concept works a lot better on paper (like in this case) than on the TV screen. For a fic that emphasizes ...

Re: After Graduation - A Shizune/Hisao story (post good rout

I figured that the introduction was just a matter of formality, all things considered. As for the signing, well, hearing about something and seeing it in practice are totally different things. Hisao is basically showing up home with a second language under his belt.

Not canon indeed, but I confess that the fact that it was drawn by Mike Inel has given me a certain... bias in its favor.

Re: After the Dream—Hanako's Arc (Part 6 up 20140322)

I always took the supposed Hanako/Iwanako resemblance to be a fairly baseless trope myself. Since as dewelar pointed out, we don't even really know what Iwanako looks like, and what we do see looks fairly different from Hanako. The resemblance could be passing at best, but in this particular fic Han...

Re: Yamaku Book Club

I think that falling back on the idea that Lilly would only fall in love with her because of her blindness is in itself antithetical, because as we see in the VN itself, Lilly can see faces, and whatever she happens to get her hands on. Hanako might not see it that way, but if the relationship ever ...

Re: Yamaku Book Club

I think what bothers me about this one is that it's not really a story, so to speak. There is a monologue, and it all occurs within one fixed point in time. I'm not saying that it isn't a thing, just that the overall style doesn't suit my fancy.

Re: Confession Letter (Hanako)

Why not? Hanako's route hints that Hanako developed a crush on Hisao rather quickly after meeting him. It wouldn't be too far-fetched that the same factors that caused that crush in her own route also resulted in her developing SOME feelings for Hisao in Lilly's route since both routes have plenty ...

Re: Confession Letter (Hanako)

Not a fan, to be completely honest. I've never really bought into the whole "Hanako being in love with Hisao during Lilly's route" idea, and the concept just seems kinda overdone. It cheapens the feels.

Re: Yamaku Book Club

I'm glad that this one got brought up. I read it when it first came out and just sort of lost track of it since it never occurred to me to comment on it. The fact that Oddball authored it slipped my mind as well. I can honestly say that it was absolutely adorable. Oscar hit the nail on the head - th...
