Re: Akira Pseudo-Route [Complete!]

Oh wow, I haven't commented on this in like, forever. And it's finished now. Well, here's a belated congratulations! In all honesty, nothing could ever cement even the plausibility of this particular pairing in my head. And throughout this particular fic, I did find Hisao a bit too pushy at times; h...

Re: Developments (Post-Lilly Neutral End) - Chapter 45 up 7/

I have to admit though, I am a little worried by the Miss Yumi thing. That Hanako has to step back and think about her feelings for Hisao from that context this late in the game feels a bit unsettling. My paranoia is telling me that it is the setup for a Hanako "loss," but it looks like I...

Re: Developments (Post-Lilly Neutral End) - Chapter 45 up 7/

I am still skeptical about that being an attempted confession, especially since Emi's alarm rather conveniently went off before Hisao could finish saying what he "wanted." Not to mention that Hisao's thoughts have not once reflected on that moment.

Of course, I could just be in denial.

Re: Developments (Post-Lilly Neutral End) - Chapter 45 up 7/

Late to the party, as usual. I kind of suspected that you'd revisit that conversation with Emi from Hanako's perspective. A lot went on there both ways, and it would have been a little weird to miss out on half of that insight. I have to admit though, I am a little worried by the Miss Yumi thing. Th...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: Mendācium)

Spoilering this since I don't usually babble on about how I would do things. It seems just a bit rude to do so, but I figured I'd put the idea on paper for anyone who cares to read it. To be totally honest, I think the entire "alpha male" angle was kind of unnecessary, cheating and rape an...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: Mendācium)

I don't think the rape was just needlessly tossed in. The point was to give Hisao a reason to not just tell Hanako to fuck off, as he might have. The cheating makes her reprehensible in his eyes (at least initially), but the rape makes her a victim. It essentially gave him the reason to fall back on...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: Mendācium)

That's summing it up more than a little bluntly, to say the least. Hanako hated herself for what she did to Hisao because it pretty much proved that she was a broken, selfish person, and tried kill herself because of it. Not so much the same thing as an apology per se, but she knows that she made a ...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: Mendācium)

Facetiousness aside, it was an interesting read to say the least. I doubt anyone's opinion has changed since it first came out, so I am honestly not expecting much in the way of meaningful discussion. Nonetheless, I am interested in reading more opinions.

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: A Future)

One of my favorites to be sure. Lilly's death did not come off as being ridiculously convoluted, as character death often does in fanfiction. On top of that, the fic actually made her death mean something, in a sense. I also feel like the characters were very well written. They were still recognizab...

Re: Limits of Fanfiction - What is appropriate?

For "Cut Petals," I wasn't saying Chess with Hisao on Tuesday then "I maked myself ded LOL" on Wednesday. And I'm more than willing to admit that I'm still trying to work out what exactly goes on in Hanako's head that separates "Misstep" from "Cut Petals". To...

Re: Limits of Fanfiction - What is appropriate?

Bad end stuff. I find myself agreeing with most of your ideas. The only one I don't really buy is (you guessed it) Hanako's two. I don't know, I just don't think she is so frail as to be on such a thin line between offing herself and going with the "fuck it all" attitude. You know, I'm th...

Re: Limits of Fanfiction - What is appropriate?

Well, it was certainly heavy-handedly hinted at during Rin's route... and what's in the VN trumps word of author, according to word of author. The parallels to Sae's husband are blatant, but they are as open to interpretation as anything. Rin's doom was not set in stone. As similar as their situati...

Re: Limits of Fanfiction - What is appropriate?

Take this for what you will. It might be a matter of semantics, but would failing to take care of herself and dying because of it really be the same thing as suicide? Because I can certainly see that happening, at least in her Bad End. In her Neutral (again, semantics) End I've always figured that ...

Re: Limits of Fanfiction - What is appropriate?

I just reread Misstep, and... I don't know how you carried on thinking that Hisao's concern at that point was anything but toxic, that his respect for Hanako's boundaries was completely nonexistent, and that Hisao actually learned anything from the encounter, other than that Hanako was never going ...
