Re: A Week of Memories part 7: Graduation
My postcount is low, but I've been following along and lurking since 2009. The events that led you here seem impossible. Not just unlikely, impossible. You took a once in a lifetime internet lark and turned it into Katawa Shoujo. You kept a team together over time and geography with reasonable ...

Re: A Week of Memories part 5: Lessons Learned
Aura: Every path in KS is primarily planned and written by a different writer. We of course collaborated heavily and helped each other, but that is the basic setup. Doing this gave us a couple of advantages, at a significant cost for overall consistency. Something we probably should've done was ...

Re: Ask!
Regarding the art: I've only played something like ten commercial visual novels. (and perhaps 15 or so OELVNs on the RenPy site) Whether the art was done as a team or individually, it had a "unity of appearance" that made it always look like the work of one person. Now, this can be a good thing and ...

On pronunciation: Katawa: The stress is on the second syllable? Thanks to these posts, http://ks.renai.us/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2548&start=105#p44066 http://media.indiedb.com/cache/audio/games/1/14/13250/encode_mp3/Katawa_Shoujo_-_Manifest_Panel.mp3 I know that Hisao and Shizune have what we ...

Re: Ask!
First of all, thanks so much for doing this thread and for all the work the devs put into the game. I almost fell out of my chair upon learning Shizune and Lilly were related. Great surprise and a great device to up the stakes for those characters. How long ago was this decided and how collaborative ...

Re: What you wouldn't have wanted to happen in the story
I wouldn't have wanted Hanako to be an obstacle for Lilly & Hisao to overcome in Lilly's path. Hanako really rose to the occasion. It must have taken a lot of courage on her part and I'm glad that all three characters handled it well ( Hanako's birthday meltdown nonwithstanding).

Re: Katawa Shoujo Will be Released on January 4th, 2012
Congratulations boys and girls! I hope sometime in 2012, after most of the dust settles, we can see some retrospective posts from most of the devs. (I'm a sucker for any kind of "Making of" documentaries and I love what glimpses into the process we've seen already.) When you think about it, the ...

Re: Your natural choice
The first time through any vn, I tend to just explore.
Shizune was tempting me, but then "The friend of my enemy is my enemy" came up and I abandoned her right there. I wound up with Emi. (like so many others, it seems)

Re: Misunderstanding
As Ellume said, the thing VNs don't need is porn. The presence of sex itself in any storytelling medium is value-neutral except for people with really extreme opinions and I suppose young audiences. What matters is how you portray it. The WHAT versus the HOW. Couldn't agree more. Indeed, if you ...

Re: A Big Genesis Fan
Welcome Back sir. Waaaaay back when I first played KS, I really was struck by how good the music was -- it really lends some weight and gravitas to the whole thing. It's been a long while since I played, and I look forward to more compositions being in KS. Since it's been awhile, I don't remember ...

Re: Internal Struggles
Thanks for showing us so much of what goes on behind the scenes. Takes guts to be as honest about your shortcomings as you all have been. Best of luck to everyone at 4LS.
