New tech update for blindness

I stumbled on this in the BBC website: Using a camera and an electrode placed on the tongue, a blind person can 'see' what is in front of them depending on the impulses sent from the camera -> electrode -> tongue. The prototype was developed by the MOD and tried on a British soldier who was injured ...

Re: If you have a disability, what would it be?

For my case... I am not sure whether this is fully applicable, but how about obesity?... I mean morbid obesity (BMI >40). It may not sound like a disability, but as I saw in some people, it can do much more than just cripple/immobilize etc. In obesity you can have: 1. MI's (1 or more attacks) and en...

Re: Can the staff get anything out of this?

Assuming, of course, that any of the devs would even still want anything to do with VNs or whatever by the time that happens. Of course that's the kicker, ain't it. I'm sure as fans we all would like to imagine KS becoming wildly popular and the devs making another VN, but if the devs have already ...

Re: Can the staff get anything out of this?

Merlyn_LeRoy, I just realized it... you are pretty much right. But still, if I had the privilege of being a KS dev/writer/member of staff, I would have most likely joined, and would be working towards, being remembered for what I have done i.e KS... it may be criticized/hated now, but after playing,...

Re: Can the staff get anything out of this?

I know I may sound a little... unrealistic, but I think the sheer appreciation and fanbase all over the internet is at least somewhat rewarding. Not just that... by completing KS, you might have well raised the status of disabled people in society in the long term as this will help many fans look at...

Re: Cool story bro: bionic limbs one step closer.

You raise a valid point. However among what they have released so far the only thing that stands out is the robust & modular design. Their current arm thats popular in the media (dubbed the Luke arm) may offer a lot of degrees of movement (18 to the human 22) but it is still controlled using yo...
