DirectX error (Win 7)
Download and install went fine. Went to folder, clicked .exe Got the first splash screen, clicked on it. A couple seconds later got the second (black) screen, but without the crawling worm, and no sound. Windows then threw an error that DirectX was out of date. Downloaded and installed update. Told ...

Re: A Week of Memories part 3: 2009-2012
Just finished reading your two part history of the project, and it was striking how much it resembled other team-style projects, like software development. The big difference is that you didn't have an external deadline, and you didn't have a customer constantly making changes (but you manfully ...

Re: The "thank you 4LS" thread.
Let me add my thanks. It didn't change my life, but I did get a bit dewy-eyed, here and there. It's by far and away the best VN I've experienced. It's emotionally deep, and nuanced, and I'm glad I found it. Played it through twice. Will give it a rest and then play it through again at least one more ...

Re: KS Academic Conference Paper - Seeking Help
1. Which girl's thread affected you the most emotionally? Why did it do this? Rin, because it was more complex and because I never could decide if I wanted to root for the girl or for her art. She's tearing herself down emotionally, and I know why, and I should cheer her dedication, but I also ...

Re: A Week of Memories part 6: You and Me
So, it's very likely that nothing any of us ever does in life after this will matter as much to as many people as this cripple porn game. My guess is that you are now much more likely to repeat the experience, maybe not through game production, but through something else. You've been there, done ...

Re: The Blog Returns
As for what we want to read here . We want to read the interesting thoughts of interesting people doing interesting things. That's why we follow KS. IRC is too short an artform, too immediate, too ephemeral, too, might I say, noisy. Once you've had a nice chat on the IR, and had a chance to think ...

I love it!!! You really had me going, with that slow buildup of increasingly outrageous suggestions. Right up to the product placement line. Yay April!

Re: Internal Struggles
It's the part of KS that' almost as interesting as the story, the creative struggles are a story all their own. You are trying to meld two different creative processes, and you are getting into passionate arguments about it. I think that is (a) unavoidable, and (b) great. It shows that this isn't ...

Re: Favourite Ending?
First off, I liked ALL the endings. How much I liked a specific ending depended on the sense of inevitability it gave me, and on the impression of what the follow-on might be like. Herewith, my / by / evals, unaffected by any reading of any others: HISAO/HANAKO A quiet ending. You are left not sure ...

Re: Four Leaf Studios, how does it work?
Good description of the team dynamics. It's very hard to capture the feel of something like this in a dry technical discussion, particularly in short form and without personal descriptions. What you need is to write a novel about it, or write it as if you were an outsider, looking in. This is hard ...

Re: Katawa Shoujo Act 1 Preview feedback thread
Just finished a massive playthrough on my Win machine, and am currently fiddling around trying to get it installed on my netbook, because it looks to repay replay, and not just for Completeness. First impressions - Most Excellent, many kudoii to all involved. I won't repeat what others have said ...
