Re: Genderbender: Katawa Shonen
But...it's a VN. A "clone" doesn't apply. If there were "clones" in VNs, about 99% of them would be clones of whichever the fuck the first VN was. The strength of KS is it's characters, actually that's literally the only thing KS is, so as long as the new characters are as interesting and well ...

Re: Genderbender: Katawa Shonen
@Fishpick
The problem with cloning KS and sticking in new characters is that....well, its no longer unique. A game that mimes KS, but just has new people is a lot like making a new zelda game, but replacing link with Bill the swordsman, Zelda with her cousin Penny the Princess, and Gannon with ...

Re: businesses sponsoring Yanmaku
Yamaku is sponsored by the military to test their bionic enhancements and augmentations. Later in the story Emi and Rin shall receive robotic super prosthetics, Shizune shall be outfitted with a sonar system, and Lilly will receive Laser eyes. This will all make sense somehow.

Re: which of the girls are yandere
Any character can become yandere if circumstances conspire to push them past their mental limit. Considering the tone and nature of Act 1, those circumstances would probably have to be somewhat contrived or silly, but its still possible. Heck, even Kenji or the Nurse could become yandere for Hisao ...

I never said that a genderswapped version of KS would be the same experience. Indeed, it would be bizarre if it was, and I doubt anyone would expect it to be. The point of a genderswap is that its interesting to see the characters you are familiar with through the new lens of the ...

Re: Your natural choice
My first playthrough, I was looking to get someone and ended up dead, with my brains across the lawn. It was mostly due to Hisao's habit of going nuts over seemingly harmless choices. I ended up with Shizune afterwards, for which I am glad.

That is both correct and incorrect at the same time (as so many things are). Basic character traits are almost always constant regardless of gender. Its how they are expressed when constrained by gender related societal pressures that affects what we se on the outside. You speak as ...

Re: Gaming Journalism
I am aware that Yahtzee usually does give a fair assessment of a game and that his scathing style of commentary is mostly done for laughs. He does, however, very much dislike certain facets of Japanese pop culture. He has gone on record that he considers Japanese highschool dramas with angsty ...

Re: Genderbender: Katawa Shonen
Thank you to the people who appreciate my doodles.
I don't think it's just that. I think you can't genderbend the girls successfully, no matter how lovely art of them can look. We all know and love the girls from Act 1 as who they are and it wouldn't work at all (for us at least) to change them ...

Re: Gaming Journalism
I agree that the unusual concept of KS does pull in a number of people on the grounds of sheer unusualness. I have also, however, personally seen several people get completely turned off because they thought the premise vulgar. These were people I was sure would have liked the story had they given ...

It would appear that we all have rather similar pass times.

Net result, nothing at all. If, at worst, nothing is to be lost, then what is the harm? Financially speaking none, but there are some issues with asking mainstream game critics to ...

I can't say that the announcement has really changed my free time plans. Games and personal projects for the most part. Things will change once the game is actually released, however.

Re: Hype
I generally try to avoid making unnecessary assumptions about anything without reasonable cause. It generally seems like a good life policy in my opinion. That said, I was a bit spoiled by the quality of writing and art of Act 1, and so if the rest of the game is somehow (and I am not saying there ...
