Congrats everyone! Where do you think we'll be at when the game is out?

Re: Katawa Shoujo Folding@Home Team

Run the latest SMP client plus the GPU client. You'll want to configure the SMP client so that it doesn't fight with ABC@Home for any of the cores. For example, if ABC@Home is using 1 core, you can set the SMP client to only use 3 cores.

Re: Katawa Shoujo Folding@Home Team

I'm running F@H on an Asus N70S laptop, which has an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and an NVIDIA GT130M card. I would like to start using the GPU versions of F@H, but according to Speedfan running the GPU version raised the temperature of the GPU to 76 degrees Celsius. I know that in general the safe ...

Wreckusu wrote:Hmm I read somewhere you can run both the GPU2 client and the SMP client. Is it worthwhile trying that or would it be better to only use the SMP.
Yes, you can run both. I think with ATI cards you need to set some environment variables to prevent it from sapping away performance from the SMP client.

Re: Katawa Shoujo Folding@Home Team

Oh yeah I didn't think it'd stopped working but the change in information when I moused over threw me off. It's back to normal now though. As for the GPU client, I've got a fairly new system (i7 860, 4GB DDR3, Radeon 4890) so it should be able to take it. I've been skimming through this thread and ...

Re: Katawa Shoujo Folding@Home Team

For anyone running the SMP client, consider updating to the new version 6.29. It allows you to use the new A3 core which is more efficient and includes a bonus point system for returning work units ahead of the deadline. I got a nice upgrade in PPD on my quad core from around 1600 to 4000. Dual core...

Re: Katawa Shoujo Folding@Home Team

It's very sensitive to the processor you're running it with. 1 core is worth a couple hundred a day, and you can multiply that by 2 or 4 for a dual or quad core. The GPU client is where it's at though, coming in at 3500-7000 per day depending on the project.

This. I noticed a bump in my electric bill after the first month of folding, and this is the stated reason we're not allowed to run distributed computing stuff at work.

Re: Katawa Shoujo Folding@Home Team

Looks like Calguns is ahead of us again in PPD. And by Calguns, I mean the 2 people who contribute 80% of their points.

Re: Katawa Shoujo Folding@Home Team

So to derail the e-peen discussion, has anyone been watching our team rank? It looks like we'll make top 1000 within a week.

Re: Katawa Shoujo Folding@Home Team

Got my playstation and my computer running these now that I'm on campus. Playstation has already gotten 1 WU in and my computer is about 25% through its first as well. Off hand, anyone know how I can make F@H use both cores of my dual-core processor? Or would I just have to have another instance of...

Re: Katawa Shoujo Folding@Home Team

Looking at the xcpus page, their PPD is dropping off exponentially, and is just barely above ours now.

Re: Katawa Shoujo Folding@Home Team

Thought I'd drop in here to say I've joined the folding effort. Something I've noticed so far is that the GPU client is way better than the CPU ones if your card can support it: (GPU) 8800 GT: 3100-5300 PPD (SMP) Q9300 quad: 2100 PPD I'm running both of them on my main machine, plus a little more fr...
