Re: In regards to Shizune

Ah, I was just wondering since you seem to be taking a while to get through KS. It seems like you have plenty else to do, though. I wouldn't say plenty else LOL but I guess it's a sign that I truly enjoy what I'm reading. Most novels I blow through them in a day. But a truly good novel, I will read...

Re: In regards to Shizune

Hmm... Do you tend to read more slowly than hearing people? (Of course, the fastest readers don't actually sound out the words in their head, and they have to train themselves to be able to do that.) I read at the speed of light and type at 10 times the speed of light. LOL. I don't know if it's a q...

Re: In regards to Shizune

I have to admit though the end of her route in Act 1 had me scratching my head, where she spread her arms wide. My first thought was... is she asking for a hug? Then the game goes all insightful and stuff. I tilted my head and went... wait, what's going on? How'd Hisao get THAT out of... her spread...

Re: In regards to Shizune

I also love a good singer, the feel on the chest is beautiful. Very few have the confidence to let me touch them while they sing, though, which makes me sad. Hmm...I would certainly find being touched while I sing awkward at first. I feel vulnerable putting my voice on display in the first place, h...

Re: In regards to Shizune

Well yeah, I definitely understand it sounds better live. I just meant it in the sense that.. I can enjoy basically every music out of a box. But vocals, I can't enjoy at all unless I can feel the person. So it's a definite yes/no thing rather than... "I enjoy it better live". So do you t...

Re: In regards to Shizune

If you do not mind me asking, is there a particular instrument that you can feel better or can pick out easier than others? Would a violin confuse you because of its overlapping frequencies or would it only enrich the experience? I think that the two instruments I could pick out the quickest would ...

Re: In regards to Shizune

Rap is right at the bottom of my list. I LOVE classical music, especially solo pieces (Piano, guitar, drums, etc). My favorite is Beethoven's 9th Symphony. I also love a good singer, the feel on the chest is beautiful. Very few have the confidence to let me touch them while they sing, though, which...

Re: In regards to Shizune

But again.... you can't judge them all based on this observation. They are all individuals and saying "this is wrong" and "that is bad and they shouldnt be like that" is irrelevant because there are many who are not like that. For the record, I didn't mean to suggest that I thou...

Re: In regards to Shizune

This post has forced me to register. I really just wanted to thank you to everyone for this extremely informative post, though especially stalk. The insights provided here have done even more to open my eyes to sub-cultures and levels of society that, prior to this week of playing Katawa Shoujo, I ...

Re: In regards to Shizune

The way you talk about it makes some of the disabled community sound like a savage, bitter, clique. Or am I getting the wrong impression? ..... ehhhhhhh. I don't know quite how to answer this. Hmmmm..... well, first and foremost.... I'm speaking in stereotypes. In general, stereotypes take the wors...

Re: In regards to Shizune

Now I hope you don't mind me going back to the "giving you back your hearing" topic, but would you take the chance to have the ability to switch your hearing on and off, or to hear only things you want to hear? I would think that no person, deaf or not, would pass up the ability to listen...

Re: In regards to Shizune

As noble as it is to learn sign language when under no compulsion to do so, thinking and acting are completely different. People have thoughts of being noble all the time, probably for some want of recognition, but the reason an action is noble is because it's difficult to actually follow through o...

Re: In regards to Shizune

I've been thinking about this long and hard. The best answer I can come up in regards to why I don't want to become hearing. At first I felt as though the question was rather excessively personal, essentially asking my life story. But as I thought more and more about it I was able to simplify it to ...

Re: In regards to Shizune

In regard to Shizune, could it have been progressive hearing loss? That's what a friend had. He could hear good for the 1st 5 or so years of his life, then at about 15, he was completely deaf. He could still write perfectly coherent and grammatically proper sentences and stuff (better than I can, i...

Re: In regards to Shizune

Oh my goodness, really? That's rather interesting. There's few ways to turn me off or get dumped by me or outright ignored by me than someone saying they would like to learn sign language to talk to me. Even if they actually go to a class I would still write them off as "not a friend anymore.&...
