Re: Yamaku Book Club

Like others, I'm having problems getting through this particular story. Interesting premise, poor execution. As for the premise. Depending upon the VN route (and Good/Bad Ending), you can realistically have at least three Yamaku students becoming teachers of some sort: Lilly, Hisao, and Misha. It's ...

Re: Breaking the Sound Barrier [Update: 3/17]

Also, it's probably just me wearing my yuri goggles again, but I was imagining that Misha and Miki would get together by the end of the fic. If King Baby Duck and Queen Bee do become a pair, a nice big Miki Milkshake could soften the blow for Misha. And why do I envision Yuuto at a wedding receptio...

Re: Developments (Post-Lilly Neutral End) - Chapter 36 up 3/

Forego: to go before. Forgo: to give up the use or enjoyment of. (At least according to Merriam-Webster.) So the quoted statement is correct in that respect.

EDIT: Ack. Ninja'd...

Re: Developments (Post-Lilly Neutral End) - Chapter 36 up 3/

I agree with bhtooefr, a "bad ending" between Hanako and Lilly is probably inevitable. However, that may be a good thing, if it leads the two to restart their relationship on more equal footing (and with a better idea on how to deal with Mr. Hisao Clueless Nakai). One thing that worries me...

Re: How to write the characters

"A man's face is his autobiography. A woman's face is her work of fiction." - Oscar Wilde Anyway, my ¥2 on Rin: one thing I picked up about her on the replay of her route is that she is very intelligent. Thus, her inability to properly communicate and to "read the air" (as one mi...

Re: After the Dream—Emi's Arc (Complete)

Ouch. Poor Emi. Literally ran herself to death.

I've actually heard of stress and grief-based heart attacks before -- it's called stress cardiomyopathy or takotsubo cardiomyopathy. Acute stress/grief triggers the attack, and its (usually) not fatal. (Mom dealt with this a while ago.)

Re: Yamaku Book Club

When Hisao Was Rin is definately on my personal list of headcanon. It is a very nice distillation of what I envision a post-good end Hisao and Rin relationship to be, right down to the innocent (and not-so-innocent) bystanders caught in the cross-talk.

Re: After the Dream—Emi's Arc (Part 3 up 20140311)

I'm having a hard time reading this particular arc, knowing what awaits our happy couple. But, I still do so. A testament to the writing, perhaps?

Re: Yamaku Book Club

Regarding Titanium : A story containing a malfunctioning brain implant as an element strikes a bit close to home, given that my neurologist discussed the possibility of treating my tremors with well ... a brain implant . As for the story itself, yeah, it's a bit too dystopian for my tastes. However,...

Re: Willing: Akira Vignette (AtD One-Shot)

I've always been a fan of Akira. I've always imagined her a sort of a reincarnation of Oscar Wilde, in the "work is the curse of the drinking classes" fashion. As far as After the Dream goes: It has all the feels of a forest on a fall day -- beautiful colors that precede the montones of wi...

Good News: Yay! An Update!

Bad News:
“It's a shame,” he continues. “If she wasn't so neurotic and overworked, I thin she could be a really happy person.”
Should be think. However, that's the only error I spotted on my first reading.

Re: Developments (Post-Lilly Neutral End) - Chapter 35 up 3/

After picking up our lunches, I turn to see Noriko winking at me. It's almost enough to make me put my lunch back down. Even worse, I see a couple of others at the table looking at me, then talking and laughing about...well, probably me, but hopefully not. Either way, I beat a hasty retreat. I hope...

Re: After the Dream (PostLilly NeutralEnd) Lilly1 up 2014030

Heh, I had just re-read yours because of your latest chapter, and I was wondering what on earth could have kept Lilly away until Hisao's death... My guess is that, much like with national debts and yakuza loans, the interest payments on awkwardness compound to the point to where repayment becomes i...

He's one of my favorite authors. I was thinking back to a quote of his where he said, in effect, "Don't blow up the Earth in chapter one -- you're gonna need it later."

Re: Yamaku Book Club

It looks like Real Life Events (Patent Pending) have made me a day late and a 100 Yen short to the party, but I would like mention the following about Katawa Kijo : When reading early works (i.e. Act 1 only) works such as this, I always like to see how the work holds up in the light of the complete ...
